“Diamonds  Amid  the  Glass”

“An entire exhibition of artist Maire Palme’s slick, hyperdramatic works might be overpowering, but nonetheless, her oil painting JUDGEMENT is a technical ‘tour de force’.  It’s dark, apocalyptic mood is suggested by a mob of muscular, bald-headed, semi-nude men painted as though seen through a refractive device.  Palme paints only at night in what she describes as a dream-like state and rarely begins a work with a preconceived idea.  Her sensitivity to the human form, achieved through rigorous academic training in Europe, is extraordinary.”
